Dear Parents,

Our days are busy. The students have been counting mixed coins and are reviewing baskc addition facts. Today they saw an anemometer in action and simulated the effects of wind by blowing air through a straw. They are discovering that paper mache requires perseverance.  We’ll be adding facial features to our paper mache projects next week.

Dear Parents,

The students are becoming more fluent in the basic facts of addition.  They are practicing math facts by using Math Facts in a Flash which is part of the Renaissance program.  The students practice facts at a given level (0,1 or 2/3 or 4/5) until they decide they are ready to be tested. When a student can complete 40 problems with 100% accuracy in two minutes, the student is able to work at the next level.  Today cheers erupted from the class when three students passed their level tests!  Enthusiasm is contagious!
