DRESS CODE AND PERSONAL APPEARANCE

As a Catholic school, our dress code reflects our desire to be a positive Christian witness in the community and at the same time establish standards of dress that uphold human dignity, respect, and do not distract from the education process.

General Dress Code Applicable to All Students (K-8):

• Logoed shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, pants, shorts, and jumpers can be ordered only through Educational Outfitters
• Students must be dressed neat and tidy; shirts must be tucked in (unless the banded shirt is worn), clothing must be clean and in good repair. 
• Shorts must be fingertip length (with arms by your sides – bottom of shorts should not be shorter than where your fingertips land)
• Socks should always be worn (navy, black white) above ankle
• Shoes: No sandals or high heeled shoes – closed toed and backed shoes only; no “UGG” or outside type boots for indoor wearing.  Shoes must be mainly black, navy, or white
• Jewelry: No jewelry except the following:  a simple religious medal or cross on a necklace, a single pair of dime-sized or smaller earrings, or a single discrete modest ring 
• Hair: Hair must be neat and well-groomed.  Hair color should be natural looking.  Hairstyle should be moderate
• Make-up and other body enhancements: No make-up may be worn.  Permanent tattoos are not permissible on any visible area of the body. Body   piercings and other styles of markings are not permissible

Mass & Special Event Days:  

• No shorts are allowed and girls should wear the uniform jumper or skirt.
• Birthday uniform pass days are not allowed to be used at Mass or Special Event Days
• Special event days will be noted during the school year and include concerts, academic fair, etc.
   

Non-Uniform Days:

• Occasionally there will be non-uniform days and spirit wear days during the year. On non-uniform days students may wear jeans or better. T-shirts with alcohol or tobacco logos, or offensive or inappropriate language/designs, will not be acceptable. Shirts must cover their shoulders, no tank tops or spaghetti straps. Jeans must be in good condition (no holes). No leggings, skinny pants, tight-fitting clothing, or athletic pants/shorts. Walking shorts, fingertip length are acceptable. Closed toe and backed shoes required – no high heels. 
• Students may be out of uniform on their birthday. If a student’s birthday is during June, July, or August, they may use their ½ birthday date. If a student’s birthday falls on a weekend, they may come to school the following Monday out of uniform. 
• The first Thursday of each month, starting in October, will be a school spirit-wear day. On spirit-wear days, students may wear St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic School apparel that is not part of the regular school uniform, however, they must still follow non-uniform day rules.  For example, although students may buy spirit wear flannel pants, these may not be worn at school.

GRADE SPECIFIC UNIFORM CODE:

Prekindergarten Students (3-5 years): 

• Do not wear uniforms 

Elementary: Kindergarten – Gade 5 (Boys and Girls):

• Green logoed polo shirt - short or long-sleeved 
• Green turtleneck shirt for under sweatshirt or jumper
• Navy uniform slacks (dark stitching only) in twill covering ankle
• Navy walking shorts (Sept. and Oct., April-June) 
• Navy cardigan or V-neck sweater with logo
• Plain navy, black, or white socks (must cover ankle)

Elementary: Kindergarten – Gade 5 (Girls only):

• School plaid jumper (no shorter than knee length)
• White Peter-Pan collared plain front shirt for under jumpers only
• Navy leggings or navy/black bike shorts (not visible) can be worn under jumpers

Middle School: Grades 6 – 8 (Boys and Girls):

• White logoed polo shirt - short or long-sleeved 
• Khaki uniform slacks in twill covering ankle
• Khaki walking shorts (Sept. and Oct., April-June)  
• Navy logoed 1/4 - zip pull-over (worn with a collared shirt underneath)
• Plain navy, black, or white socks only (must cover ankle)

• School plaid skirt (no shorter than knee length)
• Navy leggings or navy biker shorts (not visible) can be worn under skirts
